Music I Be Information! Get it while it's hot!

What's good?

Before I get into this, I gotta send a shout out to the boy Laws. Met him last night @ Club 57 West for the "Leaders of the New Cool" event that was going on. Dude's a straight up class act because the place dang near emptied out by the time he got up on  stage. Been at that venue before though, their issue is always starting mad late. Anyway, good ish' and I hope he does it up big  with his new deal.

2nd, I've been on this site for a minute - so I'm sure a few of you have seen me posting for the most part. I got some information I  want to share with thoseof you that're actually wanting to use RM to help promote your music. This place is great, first forum I  ever signed up for, so I'd never take anything away from it. Just want ya'll to allow me to offer up an additional venue for the  artists.

Starting up a new site known as MusicIBe.com, which will serve as a home to promote the indie and unsigned scene. Not just for  Hip Hop, but for all genres. I've met alot of talent over the networking process for this site and it's a shame tbh that their reach  isn't longer. We want to be able to help that. Similar to AllHipHop.com and HipHopDX but on a wider scale.

So with that being said;

1. If you're an artist with an album, or single, you'd want to promote, you can send it to submissions@musicibe.com. We're getting  our music pages up and running and will be launching the site pretty soon.

2. If you're a aspiring column writer, blogger or have done album reviews on here (I've seen a few) but would like to do so on a  regular basis. We are looking for those as well. If interested, contact@musicibe.com with a sample of where we can find your  work and we can roll from there.

3. Lastly, this is a unique opp. I got the idea from being @ the event last night and figure I'd bring to the site as well. We'll be  having a section called "Off the Streets" (that's a tentative title for now) for albums and mixtapes/cds that we happen to find @  venues we visit. Alot of artist press their albums and they leave them around bars, clubs, park benches, etc here in Florida and I'm  sure it's no diff. where alot of you are. We'll be showcasing those as well, because that's alot of time, effort and money that goes  into making those and it actually sickens me to find them on the floor at times. Anyway, if you happen to come across any in your  town, we'd like for you to send those in and depending on you are - we'd actually pay for the stamp to ship it as well. All we'd ask  is you include the Artist Name/Title (which should already be on it) and Where You Found It!

If any of the above interest you, again, contact@musicibe.com is the best way to get @ me. You can also catch me on AIM  (BlakkVI), Twitter (BlakkVI or MusicIBe) and our fanpage on Facebook!  Any questions or comments, feel free to leave em, and I'll  get them whenever I get the chance to.

Fuck Negativity!

Look, real talk? If you're going to be negativity around me..then I'mma need you to take 20 feet back...can't stand that bullshit. Real talk.

Not much of an update I know, but that shit needed to get the fuck off my chest.

Kofi Blaque?!?!

Yep, from now on -- whenever I decided to perform my non-hip hop material, the name I will be using is going to be that; Kofi Blaque.

Ha!

Odd Sidenote

Congratulations to the young lady I met on Saturday!

Yea, random ain't it? Meh.

All I know is after a couple Coors Lights, me and my cousin ended up being apart of a Bacholerette Party who at the end of the night told us that they'd pay to see us on a nightly basis...crazy right? They were cool peoples though, and I only wish the bride-to-be the best.

PS; Caught a glimpse of the list of things they had to do, and I promise I was almost tempted into helping her out with one item that said "Have a guy perform a boy band song for you"....then I thought about it, I have my streeet cred to think about!

...

stfu.

Early morning update.

So, I skate into the 9-5 this morning and the first thing I noticed(well, besides the fact that I had lost my work badge), was an upcoming event mimicking the successful "American Idol". Now, granted, I know these kind of events have the history of being type corny, BUT, i can see the silver-lining this time around.

Why wouldn't I?

I plan on getting the promo cards printed up shortly (getting my quote from several areas..if you know anyone, feel free to holla @ me). Shoot, for this thing I may actually get some CDs made up just because of the potential it could have to spread the word. From Daytona to Orlando, plus my semi-popularity here could definitely get the street team working overtime if done right.
Which brings me to the next question at hand; What should I perform??!

Obviously, if original music is allowed in this "competition", then I'm there. Obviously it would have to be censored music. Personally, I'm thinking "How Ya Do It" being the best choice @ hand to perform. Granted, I can also do "Can't Control It" or even "Move (I Wanna)", but instead, I think "How Ya Do It" would get a better crowd reaction. (Add to the fact that I can find the original session files, enough for me to actually go on this thing without lipsyncing too tough, ha!)

Anyway, if you got an idea or suggestion on which one I should actually go with -- do me the favor and listen to the music in the sidebar -- then leave your vote in the comments or just email me. Hopefully I can get a poll up for proper voting.

Either way,

Happy Monday!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Dear St. Patty,

In just a few hours, you're going to have a lot of fingers of blame pointed in your direction.

You're going to be reason why there are idiots roaming the streets of Downtown Orlando. Granted, this is nothing new, but it'd be the first where each of those walking will have blown well over the alotted alcohol level. You're going to be the reason why alot of homes are going to be broken up by ruggled violence. The reason why public workers are going to have to tip toe around bodily fluids. The reason why the loud sounds of empty bottles will be an alarm clock for a few.

I hope that at the end of the day, you and your husband Doug are happy with yourselves,

Drink safe everyone!

#53 in Orlando? wow.

Normally I could careless for the online charts..but come on now..I have to find the time to toot my own horn..I checked by Reverbnation account and in just the last couple of days I had officially moved up to #53 in the Orlando Charts!

...take that!

Suckas.

So, someone asked me today..

"You niggas bore me..you don't hear me though...I just record to replace what's on my radio" - Koffee Blakk, "Piss Em' Off"

If you don't plan on getting a deal, what's the point?!

Have you heard the garbage on the radio these days? These fuckers are subjecting my ears to bullshit like Gucci Mane, WACKA Flocka Flame, and all their associated acts. To be completely honest, the only time I listen to the radio these days is in the morning on the way to the work.  What can I say? The Mrs. likes to listen to the Steve Harvey Morning Show during our carpool.

Sidenote: Nephew Tommy is a fuckin' fool with the Prank Calls.

Anyway, so to answer the earlier question; I've given up on getting signed, and more focus on creating music that myself and my fans would actually be able to enjoy. An alternative if you will. Shit, I've been doing music since I was 7 when I sang in church and even then I could careless about a million dollar advance and fly cars.

..now...don't get me wrong, if the opp. did come up then you can believe that I would jump @ it in a heartbeat..but is it a priority? Pft..hell naw.

Apparently labels have lowered the standard while I continue to keep mine on the rise.

Enjoy your "Wacka Flockas" the game..you can't have those niggas.

So..what's NXT?! (See what I did there?)

If you will, allow me to step outside my music 'ish for a second and switch topics to that of another love of mine; sports entertainment. Yes, the boy Koffee Blakk is a wrestling fan.

Wait for it...

"But KB! Wrestling's fake!"

Um..no...really? So is 95% of the rap game that you love so much. So is 95% of the so-called "reality television" that you all clamor in front of your cheap TVs for. Get off mah' jock!

Seriously though, I've been watching the then-World Wrestling Federation, now-World Wrestling Entertainment since I was a young'n. You can even throw in more than few WcW shows as well, especially since I favored it over WWF at the time. Shoot, back when my Grandfather still had both legs, and would stand in front the only TV that was in the house at the time in his white flannel and boxers. His time was spent hogging the TV and shadow boxing with Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan.

Different times eh?

Anyway, fast forward to today and I've seen my fair share of live shows for both WWE and TNA, mostly the latter with the mrs, and of course, I've also managed to discover(through the wonderful world of the internet) the world outside of WWF/E. From that point on, I was always interested in upcoming stars to see who would be the first to change the dynamic of the main US promotions that I had access to on my television.

Now WWE is giving their "Universe" just that. An oppurtunity to see the latest batch of potential "WWE" stars with their new show "NXT".

The show features of all people PUNK of I Love New York fame, aka David Otunga aka Jennifer Hudson's Baby Daddy, amongst other "Rookies" as they're called. One of which is actually a pretty well known and probably knowelagble of the group, "Daniel Bryan" aka Brian Danielson (Google the guy, he's freakin' awesome even if he is sorta goofy lookin'.). The only other two that I'd say watch out for would be Justin Gabriel (PJ Black) and Heath Slater. They also showed an immense amt. of potential and I hope that when this "season" ends that those 4 at least find their places on the main roster.  I mean, I'd throw Michael Tarver in the mix but since the days of Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman, WWE really hasn't had much need for the MMA-type even with the UFC yippin' @ their heels. Here's some examples; Sylvester Terkay? Vladimr Kozlov in his early beginnings? Heck, let's go with the misusage of Santino freakin' Marella -- you have Youtube, look it up!

Either way, I was impressed with the first episode of NXT enough to post up about it, and honestly, if you ain't doin' jack on Tuesday Nights, then yous hould check it out. I give it the Koffee Stamp of Approval.

...fucky ass day..yes, I said fucky.

W...T...F!

Look, if I fuckin' wronged someone, something, or some Deity -- get off my jock, I'm sorry! Frickin' ey!

Tell me how in the fuckin' hell, that a week I had been looking forward to, due to a trip to the ATL for my baby's birthday, managed to turn it self into Barney fuckin' Rubble in the matter of two days?!

Think I'm over exaggerating? Watch me;

1. Get home yesterday and I find out my wife's car had been towed due fuckers thinking it was abandoned. Keep in mind the tag had only expired a month ago, and was literally getting taken care of TOMORROW. I personally blame it on her not washing it, but because she'll prolly read this shit later - I take that back,

To get my fuckin' whip back, a nigga had to drop $125.00 on the shit, which was money set aside to buy the Mrs. her birthday gift. WTF!

I brush that shit off my shoulders,  and say fuck it - I still got my trip to ATL and the titties @ Magic City were going to make me feel better.

Ha!

Incident #2 -- After getting my car out the impound, I drive the bitch home as the brakes fuckin' grinded on the way there. As I'm doing that, I call my wife who was behind me in the Passport to let her know that we were heading straight to the crib. At that point in time she tells me that she hears a clickin' noise in MY car. I'm like WTF!, what now?!  So I get both cars home, let the office know the fuckin' tag on the Galant would be fixed tomorrow while they let me know that I had dropped my WORK ID out there and would have to come back and get it.

I go back to my Passport, and took a look under the hood and what do I find? I find that that a tension belt I replaced all of WEEK AGO, had now started to strip and wrapped itself around my radiator fan! Say it with me now; WTF!

So I give my mechanic a shout and let em' know I gotta stop by and he tells me to do so around 5PM. 5PM rolls around and head out, decided to stop @ Amscot, cause I was expecting some Christmas money for the lil' one from her Grandfather. I get there, and I fuckin' find out that not only did I lose my work ID but my Drivers License had gotten left there too!

That pretty much fuckin' guarantees that my Friday is going to be a busy one..but hey, Happy Birthday Baby!

And to quote my lovely wife, FTML, or For The MothaFuckin' Lose for you lames.

KB Related: You're petty much guaranteed a new song out of this sh!t, VTZ where you at!?

Should, or Shouldn't I?

So, since I decided to stretch my "creative wings" so to speak, I've been contemplating possibly forming an actual group. No, not a boy-band. And no, not a man-band either. A musical collaboration between like-minded individuals who refused to be bogged down by one particular genre.

Look, It's no secret to those around me, or anyone that pays attention to anything I say; hip hop/rap is boring to me now. Not only that, but the game is just overcrowded and oversatured with every fool that can get a microphone and a Youtube/Myspace/Facebook/Twitter, etc. And if Plies, Soulja Boy, Gucci Man, Wacka Flocka (the same that admitted that he has no lyrical creativity whatsoever and is just doing this ish' for the money he makes on shows) had shown us anything, it's the fact that anyone can get a deal in hip-hop these days.

And frankly? They can have it.

I've always been a fan of music, and if you were to ask me what the last rap song I did was and completed, I'd tell you "By My Side" which is at this point, going on 2-3 months old from when I originally wrote and recorded it. Heck, look at "How You Do It (H3ll Yea!)" and this "The Rejuvenation" project I'm doing. This project won't have one rap verse on it from me. I refuse to. I love melody and I've finally found a way to project a singing-voice that works for me and "How You Do It (H3ll Yea!)" is really the tip of the iceberg of what I want to do. Same with "Can't Control It" and "Move (I Wanna)", those type of songs have become so exciting for me to record that I don't even care a 6'3" black guy from the Virgin Islands that looks like he should be screaming "I'mma head bussa!" instead of singing
"Why do you build me up, buttercup?"

Music was better back then anyway.

There are so little joys that you can get out of life while you're here, and if you're not having fun or enjoying them when you find them then what's the point?

Exactly.

"The Rejuvenation", coming soon.

Suckas.

PS: If you're a female or male artist (or you know one) that would love to be apart/help start something huge musically, get at me -- either through here, or my email blakkvi@live.com!

"How Ya Do It KB?!"

I'm at the point where I don't even know where this shit comes from anymore. Rocz sent me the instrumental, and from that point it was a wrap. If you haven't done it yet, make sure you peep the first recorded track from "The Rejuvenation of Koffee Blakk", my all Rocz produced project!

Go on, hit the player.

First thing you'll notice is that its the furthest thing from rap that you may have heard from me, and to be honest, rap bores me now anyway. Me and Rocz decided that right now, we are going back to what made this shit fun; the music.

How ya liking it so far? Well, here's hoping you do because there's more to come!

Performance in Lakeland?! VMG in the buildin'!

Just got a shout from my mans DJ Play (@DJPlay on Twitter) about possibly performing out in Lakeland, FL. Play is good peoples and I'm glad he reached out to me about getting up on stage. We already know I have the material to get a crowd going -- just a matter of what songs to actually go with.

Hopefully once it gets okay'ed (still waiting on information about how long the set can be, equipment that maybe needed, etc.), I can get the ball rolling and of course, keep my peoples (Yea...you) updated.  Secondly, not trynig to have what happened the last time I tried to get back on stage bite me in the arse again.

Like I said, I'll keep you folks updated..get at me if you have any requests you think I should consider..I may aim high with a 5 song set and work my way up or down depending on the info I get back from Play.

Till then I remain,

Blakkest Boss that you seen thus far!

Random thought of the Day...

I just realized...

That I'm the shit.

The thought alluded me for some time but today I had choice but to face facts...

I, Koffee Blakk, am the shit.

That be all.

No fancy stories.

My Touch Pro 2 went for a dip yesterday and well..I'm back to my SK ...

Stab me...

Please!

Guess who's back in my life?

So, you people already know I'm working on Lifestyles of Paradise 2, but what album would be complete with out a few tracks from the one and only Young Rocz?

Read it again, suckas.

After a stint (...understatement, but we'll run with it anyway) in the army, my nicca Young Rocz is back and behind the boards and yes, the rivalry between myself and Rylo has once again found fire. I'll deal with his ass later. However, in the mean time, so far I've managed to secure the fam on a few tracks.

For those of you that need a history lesson, Rocz produced "All Day" and "Go Off" off my last album, "VIKing", he also did Son Of A Preacher and a slew of other shit for me and Rylo, this also included some remixes to popular songs like "What We Do".

Another little known fact is that Rocz was the first producer to ever slide me a beat that wasn't produced by Duzza or Day Johnson using Ejay. So you can see that I have myself an attachment to the kid because if it wasn't for him being there then, I wouldn't be where I am now.

I'll keep you boys and gals posted on the new music!

Till then, I still remain the blakkest nigga on the planet,

KB

Fingers Crossed? Check!

Ayo, what's good!

Look, I'm going to keep this one brief, but it'll be sweet too!

Without going into revealing too much information, it looks like I may be getting my chance @ doing somethign with my music. It turns out that a Demo Kit I sent out via email may have gotten into the right hands of an A&R and if all goes well, I may end up in talks with a well known label that's actually produced plaques from artists you know and love!

I'm not going to say who just yet until I know just what is going to  happen. Last thing I need to do is jinx myself, but I can tell you that I am excited about the potential oppurtunity this could bring about!

Stay tuned for more info!

Is there anything better than...

Than writing a song while in a parking lot or on the road?

If so, someone let me know!

Now granted, I haven't fullfilled my dream of doing National tours or anything, but I swear my best ideas come to me when I'm either chillin' in the parking lot or on the way somewhere. I usually load up my USB Drive and phone with new beats I got sent or dl'ed at some point. For whatever reason, doing that gets me in that mood and I either start spitting or I pull out the phone (Touch Pro 2 or Sidekick, depending which I'm using at the time) and I can prolly pump out 4 songs in full. Sometimes maybe all verses.

Either way, "I'm in mah' zone!"

Anyway, self praise aside, I do  have something serious to touch on for a second; the Earthquake in Haiti. Not only because it was devastating, but it hit extremely close to home.  Not going to bother going into full-on detail of what's going on because that's what the internet and your local news channels are for, trust me, ain't hard to find the story.

What I WILL do though is encourage any and every to donate something to help our fellow man. I'll be doing so, you should too.

Till nxt time,

"Lifestyles of Paradise II, Coming Soon, VIKing Available for DL now!"

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Well, that was unexpected...

So, it seems that the response that I'm getting so far on "By My Side" (produced by Open Sound Productions, who again, has a whopping turn out on this project so far) is better than thought ...now if I can only get a successful video shoot done (...hold on, breath being held....okay - done). So for those of ya'll that are feeling the track, feel free to spread the proverbial word!

Anyway, as far as collaborations go, I think I've hit my limit on this one -- already in the works are tracks with Salvdor ("Back It Up"), Rylo ("All Night"), and southern counterpart Synai will be joining the party as well on an untitled-not-yet-thought-of track. Of course, they'll be joining the tracks I've already done with Kry ("Way of the Hustle") Priceless ("Goin' 4 Gold") and No Play ("Hurting @ Home (2nd version)").

I already hear some of you muttering to yourselves, "But Koffee! WTF yo! That's a lot freakin' people!"

To you I reply;

...yes, that's quite the bunch....

and no..I have not gotten lazy...

Least I don't think so anyway .

Ha!

Till nxt time!
PS: If you still haven't heard "By My Side" hit the player!

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Oh...you're still waiting?

Well then, for those of you wondering about the status of "Lifestyles of Paradise II", I got an update for you; I'm still working on it.

Just this past week alone, I managed to knock out three brand new tracks that could possibly appear on the project; "City Lights" and "By My Side" both of which were produced by Open Sound (See; "Going 4 Gold w/Priceless) and I also managed to record one of the most personal tracks I've ever done, "Hurting At Home" (produced by Rap It Fly). Of course, I still got more shit in the works, including tracks produced by Hygrade (Go figure, right?) and others!

What's taking me so long?

You can't rush perfection, muthafuckas!

Seriously though? I've been so busy with other shit that while I got tracks written for days, to find hte time to get into the "studio".  Don't worry, that'll be fixed sooner or later -- but as usual no promises are being made.

But wait, THERE'S MORE!

I do have something for those of you out there that're actually anticipating (...) my new album. Here's the track mentioned above, "By My Side"! As always, hit me up with any feedback as I always listen!

Yea, I'm late -- but Happy New Year!

Not like this shit gets read anyway.

Wait..

It does?

Who the fuck reads this shit?

Well..hm..

Awkward.
